About

I used to walk to the local Radio Shack so I could play with the TRS-80. After that, it was an Apple II, a Commodore 64, an MSX 80, a mainframe, unix, VMS, the IBM PC, and now Mac and Linux.  Along the way, I’ve built games, computer languages, realtime control systems, simulators, groupware, machine learning toolkits, public APIs, large websites, massive data analysis tools, search engines, browser applications environments, component software, distributed systems, graph analysis tools, and many other buzzword based systems.

I love what I do.  I love learning and finding ways to apply what I learn.  I love succeeding (sometimes) at being creative and thoughtful.  I dislike being hands off and abstract.   I work hard to be very deep and general in my computing interests.  When pressed, however, I describe myself as specializing in processing distributed, massive, and web based data.
